STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT CAPABILITY

Strategy

Effective implementation of the AU Agenda 2063 will be dependent on the quality of the strategies that are conceptualised and implemented at a national and sub-national level based on data. GIBS has the experience and expertise to support and build capability among leaders to formulate effective strategy.

Our Expertise

GIBS holds a depth and breadth of expertise in building strategy capability. We demonstrate our strategy development capability through the following:

CUSTOM STRATEGY SOLUTIONS

Bespoke strategy solutions may co-created to achieve the strategy design requirements of the AU. This solution could be delivered to the national and sub-national leaders responsible for designing their country strategies according to the Agenda 2063.

SHORT COURSES

GIBS has a cluster of short courses which delve into specific content areas of strategy speciality. These programmes may be attended as public courses on GIBS Campus in Johannesburg. Alternatively, a private or in-house programme can be run in country and Faculty will be flown to the country of choice. A third alternative, is that some of these programmes can be delivered online as a private programme to AU members.

GIBS ONLINE LEARNING

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

GIBS has developed deep capabilities through the various GIBS Centres and is therefore well poised to be a powerful partner. Research outputs are either integrated directly into curriculum through application for content development, preparation materials and case studies used as teaching aids or to inform solution design and development.

Case teaching is a core part of a business school’s teaching methodology; the quality of our students’ decisions is measured by their quality. Cases are not simply good stories; they provide opportunities to apply theory to real-life problems or dilemmas.

GIBS has produced an increasing number of case studies published and used locally and internationally. GIBS cases are of a high standard and often replace US-based cases with African and South African contexts. As a result, our cases are used by business schools across the continent and by students in Europe and North America wanting to learn more about doing business in Emerging Markets, Africa, and South Africa.
