GIBS AS A PARTNER OF CHOICE TO BUILD LEADERSHIP CAPABILITY

Let the Dean Introduce you to GIBS

Our Strategy

GIBS has three strategic outputs, namely; Humane Centred Leadership, Climate Leadership, and Digital Leadership.

Humane Centred Leadership ensures that leaders are empathetic and people-focused, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Climate Leadership emphasises the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Thus, preparing leaders to navigate, mitigate and leverage the impacts of climate change.

Digital Leadership equips leaders with the skills to leverage digital tools and technologies, driving innovation and efficiency in their organisations while understanding the context within which we operate and the effect that the digital divide has on the stakeholders we serve.

These strategic outputs influence curriculum development and guide the approach to research. This offers our delegates and partners a holistic value proposition and drives both GIBS and AUDA-NEPAD’s strategic objectives forward.

GIBS’ Commitment to Sustainability

United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME)

PRME is an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact. GIBS has been a member of PRME since 2009 and one of the PRME Champion schools since 2018. The PRME Champions programme centres on developing the next generation of leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim of the PRME is to integrate the UN SDGs into business school research, teaching and other activities. At GIBS, our commitment to responsible individual and organisational performance is underpinned by these UN SDGs:

An Integrated View of Sustainability with Climate Leadership at its Core

In October 2023, GIBS hosted a pre-COP 28 event and panel discussion on Advancing Climate Goals Together. The event was hosted by Barend Erasmus, the Dean of the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (NAS), in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates and the UAE Ambassador to South Africa, H.E Mahash Al Hameli. GIBS faculty Tanya dos Santos Ford and Dr Jill Bogie participated as panelists.
